Most people who take a health and safety class think they'll never have to use what they've learned... On July 2, 2006, Thomas Mangine of Lockport, helped save the life of a two-year-old girl. The child’s eight-year-old brother found his sister lying at the bottom of their above-ground pool during a family get-together with friends. He pulled her out and called for help. She had no signs of life. Thomas Mangine had learned CPR at a Red Cross health and safety class. He administered CPR and got the child breathing again. Thanks to the skills Thomas learned from the Red Cross, this little girl is alive today and suffered no brain damage from the incident. |
